This was a simulated phishing exercise, which closely mimicked an actual phishing email. The purpose of this simulation was not to catch anyone off guard or to create anxiety but rather to educate and empower our team. By familiarising ourselves with common phishing tactics, we can collectively strengthen our defences and protect our organisation and your personal information from potential cyber threats.
Phishing attacks are a deceptive way in which cybercriminals impersonate trusted entities, often through fake emails, websites or messages. With the goal of tricking individuals into revealing sensitive information like passwords, credit card numbers or personal details.Â
Phishing attacks have become increasingly sophisticated, and their impact can be devastating not only to organisations but also to individuals. These attacks often target unsuspecting employees, making it crucial for us to be well-prepared and vigilant against such threats.
We understand that simulated phishing emails can cause some apprehension or discomfort. Therefore, we want to assure you that this exercise was designed with the utmost transparency and sensitivity in mind.
No Personal Data: The simulation will not request any personal, sensitive, or confidential information. It is purely a learning experience to help you recognise phishing attempts.
Safe Learning Environment: The goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where you can ask questions, seek guidance, and learn from the experience.
No Consequences: There will be no negative consequences for engaging with the simulated phishing email. Our aim is solely to improve our collective cybersecurity awareness.
Education and Training: If you fall victim to a simulated phishing email don't panic! You can nominate yourself to do a complementary short training course through our LMS that will show you what to look for and how to avoid falling for similar tactics from real threats. This optional training course is available to everybody.
By participating in this simulation, you are actively contributing to the protection of our organisation and your personal information. Your commitment to cybersecurity awareness is greatly appreciated and together, we can face the challenges of the digital world with confidence.
